Willy Wonka Musical Review

Hi guys,

Well on Wednesday 11th September, I went to see the musical 'Willy Wonka' at Her Majesty's Theatre in the city. I was soooo excited as I have both Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka and Johnny Depp's Charlie and The Chocolate Factory on DVD. I absolutely love Roald Dahl, I have most of his books and also DVDs. I used to sell a lot of his books when I worked in a bookshop, that's what started it all for me (a love of his work). I love his wit and storytelling.

Well the musical didn't disappoint, it was wonderful. I went with Gina, Izzy, Millie, Sharon, Claudia, Dawn, Michael, Chris, and Sammy. I went with people I love and some of my friends from Arnica. We went into the city by Maxi Cab and had lunch before seeing the musical. I was like a little kid again, I was transported into a magical wonderland for 2 and half hours. My favourite part was Augustus Gloop's polka dot undies, and he was excellent cracking jokes and eating bratwurst sausages with his mum all dressed up in the German folk costume. The actor/performer Paul Slade Smith who played Willy Wonka was brilliant. I think he also performed on Broadway. Charlie was played by Lachlan Young who was very good. At the end they had purple and silver confetti coming down from the ceiling - UNREAL! I highly recommend this musical as this adaptation to stage was very creative, smart, and just brilliant!
